Major Change to Amazon Product Titles from 21st Jan

From 21st January 2025, Amazon are abolishing keyword-stuffing and special characters, with a new 200 character hard limit for all product titles.

This policy change promises to make titles clearer and more concise for consumers, simplifying the shopper journey. Soon, unwieldy, repetitive and confusing titles will be a thing of the past.

The following new requirements will take effect on January 21, 2025:

  • For most product categories, titles may not exceed 200 characters, including spaces.

  • The special characters !, $, ?, _, {, }, ^, ¬, and ¦ are not allowed, unless they are part of the brand name.

  • Titles may not contain the same word more than twice (Except prepositions, articles and conjunctions)

Amazon is now urging all non-compliant titles to be updated immediately - or face override suggestions that comply with the new guidelines.

At Tambo, our rigorous strategy ensures product titles are always best-in-class; we utilise our research to combine the highest-ranking SEO with customer-focused structure, to create titles which serve to create visibility and credibility.
